Kavan Van Hal is a Houston-based photographer, marketer and communications specialist whose work spans visual storytelling, digital strategy, branded content, journalism and audience growth. As managing editor of The Bay City Tribune, he leads photography, design, social media, digital publishing and client-facing marketing efforts while helping advertisers build campaigns across print, web and social platforms. 

His work has been published by or produced for organizations including The Texas Tribune, Houston Chronicle, The Galveston Daily News, The Facts, OutSmart, Texas Public Radio, KSAT, Waco Tribune-Herald, Bryan-College Station Eagle, El Paso Times and Click2Houston. His commercial, promotional and event work has included All Elite Wrestling, Mac DeMarco, Doug Stanhope, Sam Tallent, Afroman, Solya, Austin Psych Fest, Punchline Comedy Houston, College of the Mainland and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi athletics.

His background also includes marketing and content work with Unbridled TX and Brazosport College Theatre, commercial photography with TSS Photography, and archival and research work with Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Special Collections and University Archives. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Digital Media Studies at the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
